Bengal eves East Zone champions; Odisha runners-up

Bengal emerged champions, routing Assam by 181 runs in their last league match of the East Zone Senior Women`s Limited-overs Tournament, which concluded at Cuttack today. Host Odisha finished runners-up by registering a 61-run win over Jharkhand in another league match of the day. Three players put up impressive performance for Odisha with Madhuri Meheta and Kadambini Mahakud hitting a half-century each and Sujata Mallick bagging four wickets for 23 runs.
Bengal topped the East Zone league table with 20 points from four wins, while Odisha settled with nine points, winning two matches and losing the other two. Both Bengal and Odisha qualified for the knock-out round, scheduled to be played at Pune from November 17 to 24.

At Nimpur ground: Bengal 253/7 in 50 overs (M Mahapatra 80, P Roy 76, Jhulan Goswami 30, A Das 22) beat Assam 72/10 in 39.3 overs (Monikha Das 21; Neha Maji 4/16, Saiqa Ishaque 3/13).
